In the beginning, after being influenced through the shadows she observed in the grasses of trees and the shadows she saw on the trees, she set out to develop a technique which does not portray the object in a 2D picture. When the objects are alive or perishable like fruit and even people and other objects, they are transformed into paintings of themselves. Alexa's style of painting has an ephemeral quality, the only thing that remains of Alexa Meade's work is her photo. Photography and painting are tightly coordinated to create an unflattering two-dimensional space that is trompe-l'oeil. In certain places, three dimensions are seen, for example, around the eye or on the hair. Meade will sometimes integrate her painting into the surrounding three-dimensional environment and allows her to work within the context of their own. Thus, the boundary between photography and painting is dissolved.
